Well it was spitting a little

Two Buds and I hit an area with lots of history from the war of 1812 and on.
This place has produced in a year and a half well over 300 coins and many relics
and they still keep coming.
The grass was allot shorter ( matted down) at least 3" so many of the coins are iffy ones in the regular season.
now is the best time to get the most depth out of our detectors due to the matted grass.
with two more weeks of above normal temps, we will get out as much as we can.
Winter will return.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/1375456/Djan9.jpg.

300 coins!! We would love to see a picture with all those coins in it.

What's the oldest so far?

Where you at....the US or Canadia? ;D

Unbelievable!!.......this place had to be the local watering hole in it's time.HH!!

Awesome finds Don!!! :o

Congrats!

;)

This place is 1/2 hour from the USA at Niagara falls So the Amount of US coins are many.
i have not begun to scan all my finds from last year yet But soon I will.
it was not a watering hole, but a lg urban area with lost of grass and woods.
the oldest coin was a Chinese cash coin from 1710-1720
we have dug up 40% from the 1800s and 50% from 1900-1930.
and hundreds more coins from the 1930s and up.
but I don't tend to scan any from the 30s and up because I don't consider them to be too old.
But I do find some to be worth a bit of $
between our gang of detectors we have an awful lot of finds from this place.
We try not to go too often due to the amount of holes we dig, we give the grass a little time to recover.
the place is close for us to get to, so we only go when we are pressed for time.
Also we are not afraid of others who might detect the place, for it seems the area has a bunch of clad hunters( not that there is anything wrong with that) who would only get discouraged at the lack of them, and leave.

Fantastic digs !!!!! 300 Coins!!!!!

Better keep this site under your hat..... ;D

My experience is, if you find a good number of coins right from the start, you'll also usually find lots of buttons and relics in general.

Coins are very difficult targets as many are on edge or tilted. I'm now purposely practicing on tilted coins. The horizontal coins are usually rather easy if the grass isn't too tall. Tilted coins give a much different signal than those lying flat and the signal can be very faint and broken.

You found 300 coins? My guess is there's at least a couple hundred more at that site.

Found any gold coins yet? You most likely will if you hunt for them.

HH

I have found a lot of the coins to be on edge, and we do Know there is still many, nice things left to find, its going to be a couple of years
of detecting with care, and not making swiss cheese out of the place.
Up here in Canada, finding a gold coin is rare to say the least. I have yet to see anyone on a Canadian forum who has found one.
If one is found I can bet it would be a US Gold coin.
