It's official

Just ordered an Ace 250 this morning (Kellyco), and a pinpointer. Looking forward to getting them both.

I took dads Fisher out in the backyard for a few minutes yesterday, found a (1980) Lincoln within 2 minutes ;D followed by a screwdriver, a nail, 2 screws, and a blob of unidentified metal.

Spent the last couple days going through some coins I'd had stashed away. I always bust a dollar & save the chance, so I usually have some laying-around (lol, yes, I have cabin-fever). Having removed alot of old furnaces & ductwork (especially the old gravity-systems) over the years, I managed to find a few coins along the way. lol, so if you ever have an old system torn-out keep that in mind. If you know anyone in that line of work, you might put a bug in their ear about any finds they might run into.

Going to try & get dad out after the 250 arrives. He's 84 & still pretty active, he played 18 holes of golf this morning. My stepmom has Alzheimers & was recently in the nursing home, but was able to go home recently. Dad spends most of his time caring for her & can't do as much as he'd like. I'm going to see if her daughters can spend some time with her so dad & I can go hit a couple local parks or something.

I sure hope you can get some good quality hunting time in with pops! From what I hear, The Ace 250 is a great detector. Congrats!

Thanks! I do too. We both used to spend a fair anount of time fishing together, but haven't been able to do any for the past few years. Since he owns 2 detectors, he had an interest in MD'ing at one time, but I know he hasn't done that for quite awhile either. There's a few parks & schools nearby, plus I've been "attempting" doing alittle research on some old sites to possibly hunt.

I chose the 250 for a couple reasons, one being it's considered an "entry-level" detector, and that's where I'm at. That being said, it seems there's alot of seasoned MD'ers here that think highly of them also. I can't deny the fact that cost also played a major factor.

lol, dad was kind enough to let me go through a gallon of pennies he has. I got about 1/2 way through sorting them by decades before I went cross-eyed.

Definitely get out with your dad and enjoy the time together. He can probably show you some of his old haunts and y'all might even find some goodies he missed the 1st time around. Good luck and HH!

You two are so lucky to still have him in your life and active at that age. I lost my dad in '93 to multiple sclerosis. Take every advantage of that you can. Ya'll will never regret it.

Hope you have a blast!

I would give away everything I have and everything I will have in the future to hunt with my Dad just for 5 minutes.

Miss you Pop! :'(

Good luck with the Ace 250. You will enjoy any time you can spend with your father and he will enjoy it more.
