Dug this in Savannah, GA yesterday. I know it’s Navy but don’t know what is from nor the age?

From the anchor design, it’s construction and composition I would guess pre Civil War. Could this be Rev War?

Bharpring, what a cool find! I'm not sure what it is, but a fellow TNetter will probable ID it. Is the light color areas at about 3 & 7 o'clock paint or undercoat? What kind of metal is it?

The piece is solid brass (heavy) and the light areas are gold gilt. It was completely gold gilded at one time.

So it's broken off at the top of the anchor?
