It's Memorial Day.......and yes, I got ploughed

My girlfriend unexpectedly left work early today, so I took the 1hr drive out to the 1797 homestead on the spur of the moment. It has been a few weeks since I was last out, so I quick charged the DFX battery. But, alas, a 30 minute charge wasn't enough. Was in the field about 20 mins or so and the battery died. And I left the charger home, oh well. I did manage a couple of old plow pieces and half a horseshoe. I'll know better to bring the power the next time I make a last minute decision to go MD'ing.
It was an absolutely beautiful day, very sunny, low 80's, low humidity. But it was the strangest thing, I was swinging thru an area that has hundreds of thousands of clover and wildflowers, and the lack of bees was very evident. I heard a few when I took my headset off, but I barely saw any, even though I was swinging into thick clusters of flowers. Has anyone else noticed just how bad the bee population decline really is? It's kinda scary when you think about all they do.
