Barrell tap (or other tap related piece), but not sure on the Magic bit

not sure what that looks like (could be right), as I just realised the holes look to be in the wrong place for a tap :icon_scratch:

I think it's a broken key for a gas lamp.

I found some references in Google books about a "Magic Light Co. of Chicago" that was in the gas lamp industry. Dates around 1900.

Not much info on the company other than references to a law suit v. Economy Gas Lamp Co.

Part of a gas appliance petcock. Maybe from a gas heater or stove.

Right , It's the inside of a cock type valve, probably gas. I have valves like that on an antique gas hot plate. Tony
