IT'S HAMMER TIME

Went back up to Antietam today,thank you Mr. President's....This farm that jimmy5503 and I hunt that overlook's the N.E. corner of the "East Woods".There were alot of skirmishe's around the the whole area even before the bloody battle.Been doing a little research on troop movement's and found pretty much what I wanted to know.Here's what I found today.First pic is of the old farm,mid 1800's,the rest are some of my find's.Old horseshoe's,a buckle of some kind,a fired round..maybe a 58 cal...not sure and last but not least....THE HAMMER....pretty sure it's from a English Enfield..maybe a Sprigfield,don't know.....Anyway thank's for lookin' and HH!!

Thank's all..This place is owned by a friend of my father's,leased out by a family of Menonite's(14 kid's)that's right 14...poor momma...Been doing all of my deer and turkey hunting up there since the late 80's....Awesome "hunting" ground's,Mansfield's 12th and Greene's Div. camped on the fence line the night before.Alot of home work to do on this property.Thank's again and HH!!

talk about finding a piece of history! ive seen photos of bloody lane at antietiem just after the battle and it is unbelievable how many men died just on that one fence line,let alone on the rest of the battle field. it must have been a horrible expieriance to have been there during the fighting. its a shame there is no detecting in the national battlefield. ill bet there are incredible things to be found around there. nice finds!

I know what you mean Hollowpoint,been to bloody lane and couldn't imagine the sound's of the troop's.You're lost in thought trying to picture what it was like,kinda sad in a way.Done a lot of hunting up there in 20yr's but not with a MD until now.HH!!
