It's Greek to me??????? Better Photos, Help Me

Hi to all. It's been to long. When it's nice I don't get on the computor. I found this coin on 9/17 at an old homesite. On the front it has a male bust faceing right. The lettering around the rim is ( IMPCNHVRPROVBSHVC ). On the reverse there is 2 standing figures. The letters on the rim are ( PRD VIDVNDEOB KHD ). It is very thin and a little bigger than a nickle. It also has a larger rim on the left side than the right. It was at 6" and read a little higher tha a penny. I live in Northeastern Ohio so it's a little odd. Any ideas? HH Catsman.

Re: It's Greek to me???????

That appears to be a Probus Antoninianus, 276-282AD,made of Bronze with a silver wash. What it is doing in Ohio is a good question.

Re: It's Greek to me???????

Hi all, Thanks to all who replied. Sorry it took so long to reply but when it's nice I go diggin. It is almost like the one listed but the face on the front is a little differnt. The figures on the back are the same. The letters are differnt. Sorry about the photos. Thats where I have a problem. HH Catsman.

Thanks to all. What type of value? Catsman, HH

Re: It's Greek to me??????? Better Photos, Help Me

In Sears book dated 1988 it was valued in your condition at £20 ($40). However more coins have been found since then so most prices have gone down.

You could probably, if lucky get $20 on ebay. Over here I would be lucky to get £8 ($16) on ebay.

Thanks Crusader, I think I'll hang on to it since it is my oldest and it's not likely I'll find another in Ohio.

I like to know this price of things too, not because I ever sell anything but its a good indicator of rarity. The coin might not be that rare but finding it over there is a million to 1.
