This was the result of my very first hunt of the new year and I think its going to be a good one. I was hitting a trashy house site and one of the first few great things I found was the 1858 seated half dollar which is also the very first half dollar I have ever found. It was pretty deep at 8 to 10 inches underneath a large root of a massive pine tree. I found it with the AT PRO and using the small DD coil. I found other things including a colonial shoe buckle piece and also a 1700's Spanish patriotic button. A mercury dime and a old wheat penny made the day better. But what really made my day and possibly even my year, was the second half dollar I ever found on the other side of the yard just as it was turning dark and time for me to go home.

Wow those are killer finds! Congratulations on your start to the year. I think I would have to spent a lot of time at that site!

Awesome finds Ive been waiting out winter freeze I like your coin holders I have the same I found a 43 walking half last year I save and display all my finds Great happy for you keep it up

Great Work.
There are many rewards in the Dominion State.
Best,

Really hard to find a single half dollar coin, and you got 2 in one hunt.
I have only done that once ,, over many years of hunting.
Congrats

Congrats on the big silvers! That seated half is one heck of a find.

WOW! Congrats on the really killer start to 2016. Double BIG silver... envious...

Wow, what a great couple of finds. To find an 1858 Half, & have that be your first one is unreal. ( Most of us start with Walkers or Kennedy's ) !

Nice silver there, I have never found a seated half. I have found a number of those Spanish Coin facsimile buttons. The smaller ones like yours were used as cuff links. I have a linked pair and a couple others with the loop attached to one of the links. I found several of them on a Rev War fort/encampment site.

That's a Great start and great yard. I've found many seated over the yrs but the half eludes me.

Wow killer day, Congrats!

Beautiful finds. Definitely looks like a great start to a great year.

That Spanish button is impressive! ...definitely my favorite find and probably on the rarer side of finds.

Yeap all good finds, & great start to the year - nice big seated!

But the '1700's Spanish patriotic button', I would like to understand, any source material? Coin buttons were very popular we had all sorts of Country's & Roman Coin Buttons were not a sign of a Roman Patriot.

Nice finds looks like you have a nice spot hope you find many more
