It appears to be cast and this is half. It's hollow and about 1/8" thick. It was found near a 19th century home site.

It's about 4.5" in length. I'll get exact measurements soon.
And more photos.

More info would help. LIke top pictures, Bottom Pictures, Something to show the size of it . Really need to know size.

Reminds me of a knob from the end of a fireplace tool, like a poker. More pics would help.

After seeing the later pics, I cancel the fireplace tool knob idea. It is a lot larger than I thought from first pic

It’s a decorative piece for various objects, whatever it covers, like a frame or moulding.
