It's an anchor, but that's all I know :)

20160229_114910.webpI was hoping someone might be able to identify this excavated (in RI) anchor. It's 62" tall, the larger hole is over 3.5" in diameter. I just recently moved to an oceanside locale and would like to learn more about not only the type and age of this anchor, but eventually about diving, shipwrecks, and metal detecting as well.

Thanks in advance for any help identifying this piece :)View attachment 127956620160229_114933.webp20160229_114844.webp20160229_114844.webp

Thank you! I looked at those, I guess what threw me was the diameter of the second hole, it's so large compared to the other photos. A grown man can easily put his fist through it.
Any idea what type, age, or size vessel may have used it? Thanks again!

I'd say that's fairly old one as the size of the hole for the cross-beam incates a wood one.
