It's an anchor, but that's all I know :)

I was hoping someone might be able to identify this excavated (in RI) anchor. It's 62" tall, the larger hole is over 3.5" in diameter. I just recently moved to an oceanside locale and would like to learn more about not only the type and age of this anchor, but eventually about diving, shipwrecks, and metal detecting as well.

Thanks in advance for any help identifying this piece :) 20160229_114844.webp

Well, after googling it , it looks like its called a Kedge-Admiralty anchor. Old style fishing anchor. If your on the East Coast, look for any Maritime Museum in the area. They could probably date it for you. Or if your really outgoing you might want to go to the docks and talk the Sailors themselves. This Particular style is still being used today........good luck...Kedge (Old Style) Admiralty Type Anchor.............You can google "admiralty anchor" and look at the images.
