That's a neat find... my first guess is that it is a token issued by a farm operation to the workers. A "picker check" of a 16 penny value or to designate the number of bushels picked - something along those lines.

It could be for the E.B. London farm or maybe for the E.B. farm in the London area.

I did find this token like it but for 12 instead of 16 listed on the Portable Antiquities Scheme. This may indicate that it was originally issued in the UK and not North America.

Tin Token. Milled token or disc, stamped with legend over 4 lines from behind. The legend reads: E B / LONDON / [--]E / 12. The letters italicised are markedly smaller than the rest. Suggested date: Modern, 1900-1940.

Diameter: 20.0mm, Thickness: 0.3mm, Weight: 0.58gms.

HuntinDog is definitely correct. The "EB" stands Eley Brothers, one of the most prolific firearms ammunition manufacturers in Britain, having been in business from the 1820s into the 20th Century. Some Eley Brothers ammunition got used in the American civil war. If you care to learn more, go here:

One of our forum's Britishmen should tell the finds.org.uk folks that they've got the 12-gauge version of what romeo-1 found. What finds.org.uk shows at
https://finds.org.uk/database/artefa...cord/id/636335
is not a token and it is from the 19th Century, not the 20th. Please send finds.org.uk a relic identification correction with a link to this thread. They'll probably thank you for it. :)
