There is an estate sale coming up in my area this Saturday. The guy who runs this company has always been very friendly and polite to me. He doesn't get coins too often but whenever he does, he usually prices them fairly. On his company's page he uploaded a few pictures of what will be at the sale (he didn't list the prices), but one thing caught my eye:

I don't know if he is selling the toilet as a whole or if it's just the toilet seat for sale. I'm interested in the toilet seat for the obvious reason. I plan to attend the sale, count how many silver coins are in there and see if the price is good. If I do end up buying this, does anybody know a way to get the coins out?

Melting it comes to mind but that would probably damage the coins.

At this point the coins are junk and are going to be jewelry grade (which is scrap price) and pretty much relegated to scrap. However sometimes things like this can bring a lot more then scrap if left untouched. I might try and sell it on eBay if it has large silver content 5x scrap plus shipping. You could also take it to your local coin club auction this should bring a decent prize.

just a word of warning, I think what the earlier poster was meaning, was that I personally have seen 2 of the lucite cubes with half dollars in them only they were not in them. they made an impression in the lucite and coated it with a silvery substance. it looked exactly real until it was broken open to find air.
even if they are real, I think something like this would go very good on ebay, I can see it selling for big money, much more than scrap I would think.

There are sold seats just like this on Ebay. Type in the keywords "coin toilet seat" and search the sold items.

I love silver like any other Metal Detecting weirdo... but that toilet seat's just wrong.

Looks like alot of work trying to extract them - Id pas unless it was dirt cheap.

Why take the coins out? Sell it as is if you can get it low. I'd use it... If I were not married or had a wife that liked that stuff. Lol

There is a crap and money joke here and i just can't seem to put it together!

Wow...so bad it's good. If price was right, I would buy, install at home, and wait for people to think I really went over the edge...hah

dump it on ebay lol
