Hunted for a while with my buddy Tony today. A few of our sites fell through today so we found ourselves wondering where to go. We ended up at a 1791 homesite that is still in use today. Lots of modern trash to deal with but I got a nice solid hit (11-44) on my new E-trac a good ways from the house that was pinpointing at 6-7 inches. I dug down 7 inches and a nice large copper popped out of the dirt. Unfortunately my camera wasnt working in the field so I couldn't grab any pics of the coin fresh out of the ground. Recharged the battery on my camera when I got home even though I don't think that was the issue and strangely that worked and I got a couple pictures. Turned out to be a really nice 1732 King George II halfpenny.

Found this unknown relic about 50 feet from the KGII. Does anybody have any idea what this is? It appears to be made of copper or brass.

Any time you can get a date from a KG is a good day. Congrats on your finds. Neat looking relic but I haven't a clue what it is.

Sweet coin! That looks to be Al Bundy's thumb warmer. HAHA, i really have no idea but has a cool look to it.

Found the same thing the other day...It a 1650s to 1700s horse pommel...Attached is the one I found. I posted on what is it..and they got it.

Thanks Old Dude. First one I ever found with a legible date. Found a few smoked ones before but never one this nice.

Nice digs . Thanks for the pics

Thanks Vino. My next step was going to be the What is it forum. No need for that now thanks to you, and to everyone who helped you ID yours. Definitely the right date range for the things that have turned up at this site.

Very nice KG! It's nice to get a date, not easy on those usually.

Its funny how those trashy sites become quite tolerable once a few oldies come out of the ground. Love that KGII with the readable date, don't see many of those posted. Congrats.

Nice KG. Lots of detail. Hogge

That's a really nice one Evo. I've found a bunch and only one was in really nice shape. It was a 1760 in beautiful condition in the same hole as a 1737 that looked terrible :-) You just never know. Anytime you can find one that nice you're doing better than most. All the best, Abe

Nice find, very nice site.

Mr king was very kind to you! That's a nice one

Excellent finds. I would be pleased as punch to find such a beautiful old coin. Hopefully I will when we take our trip to upstate NY this fall.

I hunted my parents house last year and it was incredibly trashy as well. It was a former nursery and this place seems similar. Hopefully I'll be able to hunt it a couple more times this year.
