I have to say it has been alot of first for me in the past few months , between the 1820 naval officers button and my first two L.C's 1848 AND 1819 and then yesterday I meet up with Deadheaddigger and we revisited a few spots . Started off alot of signals but mostly junk metal , we were there for about 30 minutes and as we were detecting DHD walked towards me and he stopped so I headed towards him to ask him if he had found anything yet ,walked within about 5 feet from him and i hit a signal , came up a 67 ,second swing 77 ,third swing 84 ,then back to 67 so while I was talking to him I hit pinpoint got a 1.5 depth ,so first thought probally junk aluminum or bottle cap still talking to DHD , I stopped and was going to chalk it up to junk metal . Then DHD went his way and I decide what the heck ill dig it out of curiousity so I dug down one inch flipped the frozen plug over and saw a shinny peice of metal still thinking aluminum I picked it up and saw a shield starring back at me , I looked over at DHD and I just couldnt help but grin from ear to ear as he walked towards me I said I just found a spanish reale . It took me a few ciggs to settle down and keep on swinging ,then I hit another signal came up as a penny on the vdi with a 77 turned out to be a 1907 indian head penny ,then towards the end of the day I decided to kick my gain up to 6 and then I hit a signal very faint sound but a solid 84 at 8 inches . So I dug and dug and finally found the target it was a bright green coin size object and very thick when I got home I cleaned off a little dirt and there is a punch mark in the middle of it ,it is soaking right now but I am almost 99 percent sure it is a copper spanish cob . Thanks for looking !

Classic! :laughing7:

Ok, so how about you two posting some of that "junk metal" you been finding. I bet there's something in there worth a lot more than that little spanish silver coin. You have a resource here on Tnet, and that is many, many people viewing posts that have been doing this a long time. Why not use that resource to check for any keepers before you toss the junk out, instead of just posting a coin with nothing else?

Cheers,

Buck

I bet you there isn't.
Message me your address and I'll be happy to mail you all the bent nails, roof cuttings, and pull tabs you can handle.
It's not rocket surgery Buck.

Ok DHD , I posted it in the what is it section "no reply's yet" but I have attached a few pictures first is design comparison against a button not even close ,and then notice the markings on the inside of the circle closely resembles the copper cob markings in the picture. And it is solid copper or bronze it weighs 7.4 grams and is 1 inch in diameter. And clearly has been hammered on all edges and has a clear mark on the back from being struck .
