Hey everyone after a lot of yrs I was able to cross one off the list. I met up with turbo21 at a old park that once had a fort on the site from the civil war. I was talking with Bob when I got a 11-37 at 8 inches. It was choppy but I decided to dig it. I Cut a plug and a clod rolled about 5 ft away from the hole. I checked the hole nothing checked the clod and the signal was there but weak. I busted it open and out rolled a disc.

Before I touched it I thought of two things a trime or play coin. When I picked it up and saw the bust I knew what I had. A 1836 half dime. I was pretty happy to get this one today. Its worn but legible.

I've been pulling a lot of common wheats Indians barbers etc. I'm not gonna show everything but you get the picture.

I also found what may be a small cannon shot. It was also found near another civil war fort site. It looks like it measures two and a half inches in diameter. I don't have the weight though.

Thanks for looking

That's just awesome! Congrats on those sweet finds!

Wow!!! I would be so excited to have digs like that!..Congrats to you for sure.

Congrats on the capped bust. Search that place very good until you think there's nothing left then go back a few more times.

Nice Hall! Your Finzer pipe was made in Mogadore Ohio 1880 -1900. I dug over 18,000 pipes at dumps in Mogadore back in the late 1960s/ early 70s. I have 40+ different types from there. The one that you have, when it didn't have any writing on them, were the most common. The ones with advertising like yours were rarer. They would put tobacco company names on the pipes as advertising. In some cases, bags of tobacco were sold with a pipe inside as a bonus. steve

I just bet you got up that day and said, "I'm gonna find that bust coin today or, bust! ;)

Funny, but it seems like when we do set our sights on one particular item that day, it is NEVER found.

Congrats on finally uncovering one of your dream coins. A very special thing!

Jeremy

Big congrats to you. Glad I could be there and see it come out of the ground. It's amazing how many great old coins have come out of that park. Hopefully we still get some more. Just a 1906 indian and a 1910 wheat for me

Congrats on knocking that one off the list. Not an easy find. That early American silver is very elusive

Great find Jerv.

Congrats on crossing one off the list, it gets tougher all the time, as the list gets "loftier" (is that even a word ?)

So is "all" this stuff from that particular park ?

Believe it or not I actually found the same coin, and date, and about the same condition, yes up here. I have been quite lucky with some of the Odd ball type US finds.

Great coin congrats

Nice save always tough to find those tiny coins especially if they are buried on edge.

Congrats! Good for you.

GREAT finds!! My first capped ever was also a half dime, and it also took me 20 years to get my searchcoil over one.

Congrats,

Buck

Thanks a lot everyone

That's the 5th one of those pipes I picked up this yr. Thanks for the info on it.

Most of the finds came out of two diff parks same neighborhood. Over two days I pulled out like 60 old coins in like 6 hrs out of a strip of woods.

Yeah I only have about 150 hrs on the etrac but that's over the past two months. I'm getting the hang of it now.

Thanks again everyone

Each year of detecting it gets harder to knock something off the buckets list. Nice job
