Finally got my xlt back from whites , and I might add they did a awesome job! I also located a stretch of ground that thawed and decided to give my new detector a go , I was into it about 30 mintes and a few pull tabs when I hit a solid quarter signal at 5 inches ,plucked out a nice 1956 quarter .A few minutes latter solid dime hit at 6 inches ,plucked out a 1958 dime then hit another solid quater signal and cut a small plug about and flipped it back and didnt get a signal in the plug so I got my handheld and search the hole and off to the side I got a signal scratched away the dirt and low and behold a timex starting at me at 6 inches .I took it home cleaned it off and the hands still move ,no moister on the inside at all .I am planning on taking it in and getting it working again and using it. I also found this indian pendant thing ,not sure what it is but on the back it says "many thanks" and below that it says "from the american indian children"

Nice finds. I would really like to see more detail on the American Indian item. I bet there is some interesting history behind it. Was there a date inscribed?

Hi Ifoundit69, In the early 80's I worked in the oilfields of Oklahoma. I went though several nice watches within a few months. Finally bought a $9.00 Timex and it lasted for nearly five years. :dontknow: Happy Hunting.

I believe the Indian thing is a DAR ( Daughters of the American Revolution) give-away for contributing to their Indian school.

Thanks for the info on the indian peice ,the organization fits the time period of the site . ...

Very nice finds. Yep, those Timex do take a licking and keep on ticking. Back in the 60's I had one when I was a kid and lost it. A year later I found it sticking out of the mud on a pathway. The band was no good and the crystal was cracked, it still worked after that. I carried it around in my shirt pocket till I lost it in the creek. (You know kids, do first then think later. ::) )
