The crowds were pretty decent today. The water is still too cold though. I think I saw a dozen people (at the most) in the water.

I did the usual 10 a.m. - 4.p.m. tour.

They are sewn into the corners of beach blankets to keep them in place when it is windy. I've found a few over the years.

They are sewn into the corners of beach blankets to keep them in place when it is windy. I've found a few over the years.

Really? It seems like a poor choice for a weight being that it is a steel disk that rusts. The felt glued on the surfaces doesn't seem like much of a cushion from the material. I would think a small pouch of lead shot sewn into the corners would be more appropriate. Thanks for the reply, I'm just skeptical of the practicality of such a use. Anyone else have any ideas?

yes, I have an idea. ...........................................we bring back all those Cannon Towel manufacturing plants that also made blankets and have American workers make blankets with ceramic shot in each corner to weight them down instead of buying that cheap chinese made crap that is everywhere we turn.

I am waiting for a stretch of warmer days (if they come) and then will probably hit St. Pete area and also Ft. Myers beach at least once too...
I imagine Clearwater beach gets a pretty big college crowd for spring break also...

Yep, that's all I found.

I'm not sure about the rich brat thing.

It is heavily hunted, between the folks that hunt it every day, the snowbirds w/detectors and people who hunt it once a week (like me).

Between spring break and March madness, it should end mid-late April I think.
