Greetings discovery enthusiasts!

Well I had a small window of time to detect yesterday. Usually that means I go somewhere close to home swing like crazy and dig up garbage and go back to my wife mopey. This hunt was a little different. The area has usage going back to colonial times but it has a decent amount of modern trash strewn about to make difficult. I've hunted there a couple times and never really found anything but there are all sorts of signs that treasure dwells beneath the surface. I was in the woods and the bugs were really coming out in force. I had so little time to go that I was wearing shorts, no hat and no bug spray. It's a darn miracle that I didn't get any deer ticks on me. The bugs were driving me up a wall with those little ones that hover right in front of your eyes to annoy the heck out of you while others go for all exposed skin and even suck your blood through your socks!!! First off I found a smaller musket ball. Maybe the ball of a buck and ball or just a smaller caliber gun. Okay that's a great sign that there are still things to be found! As simple as they are I like finding these mini cannonballs. Things were now looking up. It was probably the oldest thing I'd found there. About five minutes later I got a signal that was like an 80-82 on my ATMAX. Probably a penny but you neve know for sure. I always dig those. It came out of the hole and showed the tell tale signs that it was a silver caked in eons of dirt. I picked it up and right away I saw the lovely one dime in the wreaths. Basically a great find either way. What would it be? The treasure gods blessed me by relinquishing a seated liberty dime! 1874. First time I've sat down all year... phew I was getting tired. It's pretty beat up and might have been burned. I'm not really sure what's going on with the surface of it. I soaked it in lemon juice and rolled some q-tips over it. I think the next step is to try the baking soda boiling water aluminum foil method. Oh and for the experts... it's not a cc I checked. If it was it would be worth 1,000 bucks in even the lowest grade!!!! Still I'll take this. I'm stoked. Ok. Thanks for reading and it was great treasuring with all of you!

Congrats on the finds!

Wow, good stuff! I’ve yet to get a Seated coin so any one of them would do for me. Awesome finds!!

Congratulations on the seated dime! At least that's some reward for getting chewed on by all those nasty, crazy-making bugs. The gnats and mosquitos are pretty bad out my way....to the point that I will actually wear some mosquito netting over my head. Makes me look like a serial killer, and scares the crap out of the occasioanl hiker or dog walker who happens by, but it keeps the bugs off.

Getting sat down always happens when you least expect it.

Thanks! My wife actually got me this pullover with super fine mesh that goes right over your head and hands. I forgot to wear it! Definitely would have helped!

Nice job, congrats! :occasion14:
