I havnt posted in awhile, because I haven't found alot of great stuff. But since the water season is slow, and the wind has it rough and murky, I've wanderd up into some bush about 200 yards inland from my wrecking camp on the beach. Apparently there was a small town that sprang up here around this wreckers camp. This is no small ghost town and its complete with streets and sidewalks !! I've found 4-5 home sites out of a listed 17 !! Time line of this ghost town is 1830s-1940s. 2 home sites still exist and one was owned by Al capone!! Its an exciting spot but I'm only just beginning here....finds are erratic and spread out until I get a better understanding of this town lay out !!

Curbs and streets that are completely taken over by the beach side jungle. Stairways to nowhere, and no sign of the wooden structures that were surly there !!

That is major cool Bart. The little car would indicate people living around there in the 1930's and 40's I think. Keep us updated!

Yup steve....I've done my homework on this spot. The earliest piece from this spot is an 1808 spanish 8 reale. Im sure the first permanent settlement popped up here around 1830s.....Seminole war was bad and the settlement was abandoned from 1837-1844. In 1844 it was resettled by bahamian pinder family. By 1890s it was a bustling little settlement.....the people were mainly from bahamas and keywest, and they were wreckers, farmers, and fisherman. At its peak there were 17 families living here, but with the rail road and cheap farm goods from Cuba this community was starting to fade by the 1920s, after the 1935 hurricane it seems the town really crumbled.....but about that time al capone bought a residence here that is one of the last buildings still occupied !! By 1950....everyone was gone except 2 homes.....which are still occupied !! The bulk of finds are from the 30s-40s and lay on the surface just under the leaf litter. Everyone walked away, and it became a dumping ground through the 60s 70s and 80s....by the 80s it had all been reclaimed by jungle and it became hard for people to even dump trash !! Now I've made friends with the one bum who lives in here....he cool and we often talk politics for 20 30 mins when I see him !!

There is a certain feeling you get when you just know there's money hidden somewhere.....there were no banks, and people hid there cash close by...... I can feel the hidden cache here.....ill find it but it'll take time im sure

This is an old settlers shack.....to find something like this, that hasn't been found by anyone else is almost a miracle down here !! There is almost certainly some cool stuff in the ground here !!

Some cool relics ya found so far. The settlers shack looks like it could bring some really interesting finds. Good luck on your quest…
