What did you pay for this item or did you dig it?
Cost can be one determinant.
Don in SoCal

These fakes have been around for quite a while. 'Maiknot Bank' is one of the common marks used. From 2009, this extract from one of many scam stories, translated from 'Banat News':

BANAT NEWS
CEBU, Philippines - The joint police force of Carbon and Talisay arrested a 59-year-old man from Mandaue after he was accused of defrauding a couple from Ilo-Ilo and siblings from Zamboanga City by selling them fake gold bars.
The one detained at the Carbon Police Station is Felix Lahinaw, from Barangay Guizo, Mandaue City, but his two companions, Pablo Gumenta and Vilma Magbanua, both from Bogo City, are still wanted by the police.
The gold bar is actually marked Sumatra Maiknot Bank.

I sit and wonder if these folks that have these bars, and others that buy these bars count all the $$$ that they're going to make?
Kind of thinking that involves buying all the luxury and stuff.
Then the fishing hole isn't the best and they don't get any bites.
Then again it just takes one.
