🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Is this trace chain artillery?

Had for about a year. I got a lot of iron from this site. Anyway it's a very old community long gone. Hundreds of Sherman's troops and their wagon trains passed in this exact area this was found. I've found one that looks pretty much like it online. I've heard some say draft horse trace chain and a few say maybe artillery chain . Is there any real way to ID it? Maybe the shape of the chain links ?

I think it a chain that they used in the barn when they milked. All the stanchions had these chains to hook the cows to them. The other end had a ring, the bar end dropped through the ring

I looked that up it's similar. I guess it would help if I had a complete one though. Thanks for the response
