Is this the remains of an ox shoe?

Is the remains of an old ox shoe? It was found at a late 19th century logging site where oxen teams were used to move logs to the narrow guage logging train. Any help will be appreciated. The battery is a "D" size used for comparison.

You're welcome for the response . Google ox shoe and maybie you can see what I'm talking about when compared to a pic of a new ox shoe .

I rarely have a hunt where I don't dig an ox shoe...and that aint one...it's too pointed. Maybe part of a plow or rake perhaps...

Out of interest, were all, or many oxen shoed in the early days of the USA :icon_scratch:

I don't think it's an ox shoe turtlefoot. It may be the hook of a logging pike which broke off?

Thanks for all of the responses so far. I am sorry that I have not got any more images up yet. I have two sick kids right now and that is keeping me pretty busy. I will try to get some better pics up asap.

A loggers pick sounds VERY plausable. It was found right near the tram where the logs were loaded to be taken to the saw mill.
