I used to collect rocks when I was younger, but for some reason
I have always held on to this little mystery for all of these years.

The rock is perfectly round and it seems to me that it is in fact
a rock inside of a rock! Because of the color change of the crescent
and round shapes. The bottom of the rock is the same color as the
rest of the rock
.

So I am wondering could this be some sort of artifact, or did it just
happen to naturally form that way. Intriguing

a coin in photo would give us size referance...does it seem possible it is clay marble?

No I do not believe it is a clay marble because it is not breakable..
And as to size reference, it is about quarter size..

If that helps at all.

Hey shelbymarie ... if you change the color to green it is Mike Karowski ... without arms and legs of coarse ... But seriously it's possibly just a cool trick of mother nature ... Woodstock

ancient Indian false eye .........ok i have no idea but i "see" why you kept it , a very interesting rock/marble.

my first thought was how would some one make a item like that ? would have to be baked clay , but the design would be hard to do but not impossible .
the thing is , if there are not records or photos of other finds just like it , we are all guessing . we can not say 100% what the person was thinking when they made it ( if it was man made ).

i would love to see some one do a positive ID on this thing, either way it is a awesome find. :icon_thumright:
