Peachy...looks like an ax head to me...and as far as age...hmmmm...It has about the same amount of rust on it as I do...gotta be better than 50 yrs..lol Well, not sure about the age.. ???

Wood splitting wedge, used to split firewood and to split fence post. I've used one a lot.

definately a wood splitting wedge, peachy. i used lots but i think yours is really old. maybe check with a woodsman's assoc. they often have museums and collectors. heavy huh?

Some wood splitting wedges date back to the Revolution. Hard to date because the style never changed.

why yes, the style has changed. the oldies look like that. the newer ones are narrower and more angled. they also come in plastic, aluminum,magnesium, and god knows what else. i'm sure a metalurgist could date this old wedge.

in my teen years i too have used wedges for splitting fire wood (way too much).
if ya was to sit on it, would it become a "wedgie"?
