I would guess the center hole held the candle that was used to light the others.

The center hole is too small for a candle. I think something is missing. The 8 candle bases have wax in them. Actually, upon closer inspection, they all have wicks as well.

Yes cast. I cannot find one like it online. It has polish in every crevice.

I realize its not ancient but maybe 50 or 100 yrs old? :dontknow:

The star was cast slightly bent.

I think you are correct. A candle base or something is missing in the center. I guess I cant sell it with a part missing. :(

There is always a center candle used for lighting progressive candles each day...the hole most likely held a removeable bracket that contained the center candle...

Menorah's come in all sizes, shapes and materials...

We have a half dozen or so Menorahs in our home...high polished chrome steel with polished brass candle cups, carved wood, hand blown glass, silver plated brass, pewter and also a porcelain one...

My guess is your find is a late 1800's to early 1900...not as crude as the India brass...

bigcypress. I found this one for sale on Ebay, and it's listed as being a "Jewish Judaica German Art-Deco Brass Menorah, 1930's"

And it shows what was in the hole. A removable candle holder to light the others. It even has the crooked star :laughing7:
