Is this off of a tractor or other farm implement?

Hi Again,

I had about an hour I could detect before going to work yesterday and came across this. It was found about 30 yards from a barn that was built in the 1870's and is still being used today. I found it at the base of a HUGE tree. On this property, other trees of the same size seemed to be used as places to dump junk or broken farm stuff. I'm guessing that was to keep plows and the like from hitting them. The closest items found to this "what's it" was a door off of an old cast iron stove and an old file of some sort. I really don't have a clue as to what it is, I am just guessing about it being a possible tractor part.

Thanks everyone for the help on this one.

Doug

That was one thing that I was also thinking but I could not figure out how it would attach. I have another brake/clutch pedel that was found at another site that looks totally different on the connecting end.

Some older tractors had a foot pad for you to rest your foot on. This does not realy look like any of the ones that I have seen but there were hundreds of makes and models uptil the depression. When only the larger companies survived.

Trying to ID something this obscure is like IDing a dog terd in a jello mold... :icon_scratch:

By George, I think stephen has ID'ed it. It's a turd in a jello mold. Now, go to eBay and see what they're currently sell for. :tongue3:

Maybe a bolt type clamp for the headers from the engine block to the exhaust pipes?(Heavily rusted!) :dontknow:

In that top pic, that is a heavily rusted chain that starts on the right side and goes around underneath to the left. So it is a part of something that was chain driven. It must have been buried in very wet soil to get that rusted. It is a pretty odd shape for a chain there but that is what it looks like.Ray

Well, so far all ID attempts are WAGs...Wild A$$ Guesses...
The only way to properly ID this object is to clean it up and then ask the question...

Really, its like someone drops a brown lump on a table and askes if anyone can ID it...

Every one looks and says 'Yep. Looks like a brown lump...' Kinda looks like something Bowser dropped in the front yard...

Does it come from a tractor or farm impliment...? Maybe! Maybe not!

What do ya think it is? Thinks its a "Justa"?

Yep...its just-a brown lump... :laughing7:

Wait. Let see if anyone has super-human x-ray eyesight and can peer inside of the brown lump and tell you what it is.

Guess what...its a brown lump all the way through...
