Is this military related?

Found at a colonial site that has turned up some military related items, including Revolutionary War period. Could this be military? Or is it an address label from someone's front door? It's made of brass and is heavily patinated.

IMAG0568.jpg this one was from an 1800's home and was attached to leather. As straight as the prongs on yours. Looks to have been attached to wood.
I have no clue of the military question.

FWIW - I found this on Civil War Company Letter? (Jan 30, 2015, 09:23 AM) - even though it is a letter - it kind of looks similar...

Kind of neat - here is a response by a member (on the above thread) that found a number 4!
most likely hammered into leather and the back bent or flattened or drove into wood --say for horses or wagons or cannon carridges-- company D --artillery or cav.. most likely--- I found a brass number "4" that was similar sized at a cav camp site
