Hello all,
I picked this up some time ago cheap at a estate auction and have yet to do anything with it.
Like to sell it but not sure if it's real jade, hand-carved or molded. Is there a way to tell?
Hoping it has value.
Also, can anyone identify the maker's mark.

It is approx 9 1/2" high with a 3" X 2 3/4" base weighing 1 pound 4 ounces.

Help appreciated, Your Bud Aurum

Sure looks like it to me.
Nice piece!
Look closely for any "seams" or filed off places where there could have been a seam.

Thanks EQ8 & HuntinDog,
using a magnifier I seen no seams and tried the pin test. Hard as a rock.
I believe this to be some form of jade. Possibly Jadeite?
If it is real, I would imagine dozens of carving hours.
Still not confident enough to list it as hand-carved jade though.

Anyone know if it's possible to do a symbol search using the maker's mark?

You can enter in the letters in a translator to get the name of the artist.

OK, My pin test was not accurate.
I used a new sharp exacto knife in between the top of the base and the statue.
It is soft enough to make a cut mark and even remove some if I desired, so not jade. Some composite?
The maker's mark is my best bet to identify how it was made and from what.

The left side is the bottom of the characters.

Bottom left is stamp. Bottom right is jun.

Possibly Japanese, not Chinese. I asked a Chinese lady in the office,
she never studied calligraphy or ancient Chinese.

the base does not have to be original to the rest of it but probably is. the markings on such a newer piece would be meaningless. the color variation makes me think nephrite and not glass, as does carving on some of the details.
