Is This Gold?

I found this in a creek and broke it open. It is a soft silver color covered in iron ore oxide inside a quartz stone. When i try to break the flakes with tweezers it just bends. (not Pyrite) The only problem i am having is that isn't gold supposed to be the color gold? Tester kit on the way. Just wanted to know what you think.

Sorry, it's not gold. If it were, it would be a golden color, not silver color.
BUT,
It does look "vaguely" like what we used to call jewelers silver. That is, raw silver that was pure enough to collect by smelting, or by the use of nitric acid.

Try to find some nitric acid and put a drop on one of the silver spots. If it is silver, it will disolve. If it is mica, it won't react. Or, post a clear picture so that one of us can make a more definate analasis.
