Detector(s) used
Garrett AT Pro
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Hi all,

I'm new to the hobby, been doing it for 3 days only. I like it so far, very tiring it is, but keeps me in shape.

Anyway, I'm a 37 years old guy from Uruguay.

I own a Garrett AT Pro. I use it on iron disc 40, notch out everything under 50 aswell. Sensitivity 6 bars.

I'm 100% sure I'm the only detectorist in town, 95% I'm the only one in the state and surely I'm one of a very few in the country. Which is good!!

A guy stopped me yesterday to ask me how I was doing, he said it is the first time in 20 years he sees someone detecting in town.

I tried the beaches with not much luck. Just a few modern coins and lots of pull tabs and bottle tops.

I went to a picnic site, it is in use since the 70s. Big place. Littered with coins. Literally, you can't walk 2 steps without your MD beeping for coins. In this case it is around 64 in the AT Pro.
The place is virgin, nobody ever detected it. You find coins as deep as 10 inches or just in the surface.

I attach a picture of what I got in 3 days (actually only 2 days at the picnic site). Modern coins and coins from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s. Oldest coin is from 1948 (found in the forest together with the bullets).

WOW! You dug a lot in your first few days! Thanks for the photo and best success on many good surprises! :hello: Have fun! Andi

I guess you should stay on your knees for awhile. Lol. I've had spots that were signal after signal. Decided ill just sit and swing and shuffle over. Though I haven't had that amount of coins yet. Bullet shells yes.
Welcome to the hobby.

Welcome to the hobby.

If you have no competition, the first thing I would do is go into the ploughed fields (after getting permission from the farmers).

Wasn't there old gold in Uruguay?

Awesome finds, clean that place out!! WTG, HH

Welcome to the madness of treasure hunting. Your country has alot of Spanish history, if you start to research it and detect in the historic areas you will find start to find alot of old Spanish silver.
You have a great detector, I would not discrim above 35 unless I was in a high iron area, small gold coins can come in at 40. Check out Garrett's videos from their web site, they can teach you alot.
I hope you keep posting your finds and take Crusader's advise.

Welcome here!! You are really lucky to be the only one around with a detector!! You should do well with so many virgin sites available!! Good luck!!

Great finds. Enjoy -apparent-public-undetected sites are rare. Should give you a good fever.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and advice!

Yes, no kidding, I feel like I'm obsessed already, it is the only thing I think about now. I'm MDing about 5 to 7 hours a day.

I'm all the time thinking where can I go to find something valuable, etc.
I'm doing my research and pretty soon I hope to find valuable relics or gold/silver.

If anyone has any leads/clues/ideas let me know!

I'm already tired of digging coins! Except for the really old ones (40's to 70's).

It is great to be the only one around with a detector. I even got a carrying case for it because people was looking at me like WTF.

The picnic site is unbelievable, at some point you are just wishing the MD doesn't beep again.
I went again today, here I attach a few pics of today's finds. Found 6 nice coins (among many others), 2 from the 40's (1946 and 1949), that is in the forest. And 4 coins from the 60's, from the picnic site.
Also many modern coins and from the 80's/90's.
Plus 2 bullets shells.

Please see the pics at the bottom of this post.

I made some videos both in the forest and the picnic place. Excuse my accent when speaking english.

You all will see how full of coins that site is. I also recorded how I found the 1946 coin in the forest.

Just saw your vids. It didn't have sound when I listened to it. Hopefully my iPhones not broken.

Nice Haul!...There is a Place I detect that was the same way, I couldnt take a step without hitting a coin target, and it took me almost 3 years to clean the place out. The best thing is once you get rid of all the modern coins from the top, You will start hitting the older stuff that is being masked.

Good Luck!
