Back to my place in SC huntin in the rain! About two hours in the AT Pro went nuts with a high tone showing something very deep. About 10-12 inches down I pulled this stirrup. I was amazed at the condition and am almost positive it's brass. I am new to this hobby and don't know much about horses. Was hoping someone here could give some feedback. Supposedly, there were troops around this property. based on the location and depth, it has been in the ground awhile. Please let me know what you think. IMG_0013.JPGIMG_0012.JPGIMG_0001.JPG

I've never seen one like that. VERY unusual, and nice find!

Wow, Im watching this one. Gotta Love the ATPro

Now that is one cool stirrup! I STILL don't have a complete brass stirrup in my collection, and I've been digging 22 years.

GREAT find!

I have not seen a civil war issued stirrup like that - so I lean to it not. That being said - they certainly could be civilian/private purchased. The depth does not really matter for finds - I have dug relics at all depths and modern trash as well. My gut would tell me post civil war - but I hope I am wrong.

Still a killer find and I bet it blew your headphones off.

Best

I really appreciate the feedback! I started this hobby about two months ago after noticing an area on some property I own looked unusual. I have found a ton of stuff there, 2 IH Pennys and tons of rusted iron that I have no idea what it is. Several bullets and misc junk. The stirrup was a cool find for sure. No matter what, I am hooked on detecting!
