I found this button on December 30th, while hunting a burned down 1800's farm house in PA.
I know NOTHING about buttons, except I can tell when I find a more modern Military button. (Eagles, etc.).
I was just curious if ANYONE can tell me ANYTHING about this button. It seemed kinda neat and different to me.
Sorry if this is a stupid question.
Thanks.
TBK.

that is a cursed button of PA. Send it to me quickly and I will remove the curse from it for you!!!

Seriously, I don't know if it is worth anything $$$$$ but I sure wish I could find it because it is really cool and to me would be priceless, that is unless it was worth $$$$$$.

Thats a pretty cool button. No i cant I.D. it for you but i'm sure someone will.
P.s......does your wife know that your putting that dirty thing on her cutting board? LOL 8) 8)

This button is listed as "MARS (ARES), the god of war..." (Plate 173, #7 - pp. 416-17) in the "Mythology" section of Hughes & Lester's The Big Book of Buttons. No date is given, but buttons with mythological motifs were especially popular in the late 1800's. It was valued at $4 at the time of the book's publication (1981), but is probably worth 2-3 times that amount today.

Thanks for the replies and info on this. It just seemed a little more interesting to me than most of the buttons I find. I was just curious.
Thanks, TBK
