Is this basalt?

Does this look like it's basalt? I found it in my creek in western NC piedmont. Thanks for looking!

I would have guessed basalt if I were to find that around here. Just my 2c. Around here the basalt bearing gravel tends to contain agate so I consider it an indicator stone when scouting.

Not sure about type of stone but does look like a small game stone. Have you posted in the section where you post the pottery?
