Needs to be hit with the tooth brush. It wont scratch it. Looks like something to me.

Great looking Dove semper. Do you take in situs of your finds? I would have really like to have seen that one.

Thanks,Steve. I took an insitu with my phone, but I don't think anything is visible. Way too much overcast, and too deep of water. I actually brought my spotlight with me to shine through the overcast. Let me see if I can pull it off my phone.

Beautiful Dove. That color is pretty. Great find congratulations sir

Water can change the color if you soak it for too long but a quick brush doesnt hurt it. You can view the flaking better if washed.

Thanks, Rock. Not my first rodeo, so I'll sling you another trick for creek finds, or any point for that matter.......a very light coat of mineral, vegetable, canola, or grapeseed oil makes the color pop. And no, you can soak for 10 years, and the color won't change on it.

Yeah I think you got a little something something there. That is a killer dove man, congrats. Looks like creek stained Hornstone from here, a no brainer. I like the big , wide base on that one. Who cares about a toothbrush looks fantastic as is.

That Dove any day of the week would sell for roughly $800. That is like refinishing furniture or cleaning coins.....ya just don't do it......

First off your wrong in regards to the oil, and all the authenticating bull.

Second off, dish soap cleans oils off anything, and oil is not a chemical by any means. LOL

Third, who cares about a paper, and anyone selling artifacts? If you wouldn't buy this without a paper, you shouldn't be a collector to begin with.

Fourth, your assessment of it's value made me laugh hard.

Fifth, Flint is not wood or metal, and a coat of mineral oil is not the same as taking this dove to a bench grinder.

Sixth, Thank you everyone for you comments. This is a great site, and I enjoy it here, but many need to not give advice on artifacts, chemistry, anthropology, and take everything so literally.

SemperFind, that would easily be the find of my lifetime! Congrats.

Great find ! Always like the creek patinated hornstone.

Good find Semperfind. I appreciate you showing it and know you did not come here wanting to know how to get dirt off an arrowhead. :laughing7: Sorry about that.
