I don't think hinge with only one hole in the middle... it woulda' had at least three holes on each half of it (if a hinge)... dont you think?

Thanks Montana Jim,

I had shown it to some friends and one guy thought it was a hinge but I had my doubts. The object was painted with Rust converter that's why it looks shiny.

It looks like part of a larger piece of metal. :D Anything from a broken . . . plow coulter, harrow tooth, fireplace tongs, wagon tongue fitting to a . . . hinge.

I don't know but at first glance I think the side plate from a musket. The hammer would hook onto the arm which came through the hole??? Just a guess
