I am assuming that it is a replica/fantasy piece, but I want to know for sure. Here is the history. I picked up this button, along with a small collection of dug 1700's-1800's copper coins. I know that the coins are real but this just looks too good to be real.

I know the lighting on the images is not good, but the writing under the crown is "??MINGTON BATT'N" with the N being tiny. It is just a hair larger than a US penny.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

No, it's real. Small British unit, probably very early 1800s. There was many small militia type units during this period in Britain so many different buttons. I'm sure you should be able to figure out the place name, and now you know it is worth the effort to do so.

Yes it is! That is one reason I love shotshell heads so much; what I learn from the research. Did I do okay at $0.50 for a "broken button"?
