✅ SOLVED Is this a Trivet?

I found this today and the homeowner told me it was a trivet. Can anyone confirm this or tell me what it actually is?

Long time trivet user, here.

The height of the imprint would be my concern.
I'd set my tallest coffee pot on that thing.

If the pot was slid around a bit ... and it sat perfectly stable in relation to the high points of the imprint and each of the four edge high points, I'd lean heavily towards it being a trivet.

Good trivets do NOT cause your cookware to wobble.

The other thing that mildly amuses me is the fine definition of the lion, while the underside seems to form a crude lions paw print.
Intentional or not, that brings me a small smile, just because.

Looks like w.Brighton, West Brighton Massachusetts or England? I’d say maybe an adornment for a fancy stove or fireplace

That makes sense.

The paw print is a neat surprise when you flip it over. Hopefully intentional. Thanks

I think it looks cool ... I don't care what it "might" have been ... at that point, it "would" become a trivet. LOL. But, that's just me.
