Over the week end I decided to dig in a local River bank for bottles but got some other goodies. The object in question is an oval shaped token or tag that says 1 for 25 cents on one side but other side I can't make out if there is anything, it's has a lot of concretion built up on it. I believe it's brass or copper. I'm just curious of what it is. How old is? And how could I clean it? Thank you in advance- Justin

I would put it in vinegar and soak it-- checking >OFTEN< (every 5 minutes) so it doesn't get eaten up. Keep baking soda handy to neutralize the vinegar and rinse thoroughly afterwards. It isn't worth much in its present shape, whatever it is. Post some pictures afterwards and maybe there will be more someone can say about it.

Thank you much for the info. I have it soaking now I'll take more pics when it's done.

Ok the vinegar worked wonders. I don't believe it's a token now because the back is blank. I now think its a plaque off an old coin op machine or trade stimulator.
