I need help! I've only been detecting for a year and haven't really found anything of significance, but I still love MD'ing. Recently I tried a new spot and on the first day there I found this. I figured it was a pendant and didn't think much of it. A week later I showed it to my landlord who has been a coin collector since he was a kid and a dealer for 15 years. He said that it might be a token/store card and appeared to be from the late 1700's or early 1800's. We looked through some of his books but found nothing. Then I went to the library yesterday and did three hours of research. Close, but no cigar. My landlord suggested that either I pay a researcher or come to this site to get an answer. Treasurenet is free and researchers aren't, so here I am

:hello:

A little background: I am in Camillus, New York (near Syracuse) and I found it in a small city park about a foot and a half down. I talked to a few senior citizens who told me that the place had been a park for 70 years. One gentleman also said that the area had been a stop over for colonial troops on their way to the frontier. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

No, it's not. A token is something made to be used in lieu of cash. They are the fore-runners of coupons. This is just a decorative item meant to look similar to an old coin.

No letters or numbers, which made me think that it was a pendant. BTW, would either of you venture to guess it's age? As you can see the portrait looks pretty crude. Thanks...

I think the hole was added later, then it would of had 13 stars---maybe off an early jewelry box or something of that nature---just my opinion-----
