is this a suspender adjuster?

found this today at mid 1800's farm house... anybody see one before?? been searching buckles but have not found one similar..any ideas? thanks all!!!

looks like the buckle for union soldiers susspenders or "braces" as they were called then

I think it is a suspender adjuster too. Pretty neat find.

sure cant seem to find anything like it.... the strap would have been 1 '' wide or less...seems to small for suspenders... maybe off womens garments

Given the size, there's no telling...but it sure looks like it's an adjuster of some type!
