My uncles house was built in the late 1700's. I've been detecting there since I started a couple years ago. I saw someone post a picture of a buckle and it hit me that I had one like that.

Amazing find! It's a colonial shoe buckle from around 1720 to 1770. You can see the same chape on page 101 of this buckle identification website:

Wow that's a great resource Tim! I have a couple of books but that link will come in handy. That said, and I could be wrong because I don't have my books (at work), I believe the dates can be narrowed within you range to about 1760-1790's.
