I don't know... however this seems to indicate that style came about circa 1835-1923.. It could also match the more recent version but I cannot see the details on the lower quadrants.

It is a button a seal would be inverted, i think that cru is right. Bramblefind you always impress me.

The version with the crown above the shield puts it 1835 to 1918.




Being that they mostly left off the lower half I'd think private/blazer as opposed to military or gov. issue.
