It doesn't look thick enough for a hammer.
Is it magnetic?
Looks metal and man made.
May be a cut off left over piece of scrap iron from someone's project.
Sorry I don't have a better answer for you.

I'll be the first to admit the I have no idea. Looks like it's been real hot at one time, and it sure doesn't appear to be natural. Hopefully someone will recognize what it is.

OK , I know what it is. It a tool but not like your thinking. It is used to find something. Look at the small part that sticks out. It's the skull. It's not your imagination. Now think about where you found it pull out a map of the area. It should be fairly close. It's a map itself. Nice find. We are in the time of the unveiling. There will be more starting to show up
