Is this a real military button, or a wannabe? Age?

Two piece button that measures about 7/8" wide and the back is rusted. The middle part is pushed in a little, which is why it looks a bit odd. Is this a real military button, or just something that looks like one? Thanks for any help you can provide!

If the back is rusted, the likelyhood is that it is a fashion button. Often see on mens blazers.
