Neat find. I’m not an expert but it does look like the size of a pommel and appears to be bronze? I didn’t find many Masonic pommels with a open face like this. But there is a group called the Knights of Pythias and they have some sword pommels with open faces and appear similar. Curious if it’s related to their organization?

I’m sure someone on here is probably more knowledgeable. Good luck.

What a beautiful piece... my first thought was the base to a letter opener or carving knife handle, although it may be too large for that?

1894 Outdoors, interesting find. If no one IDs it, consider cleaning more of the dirt out of the inside and posting some more pictures of the stem coming out from different angles.
