is this a good choice?

Though I was more than pleased with my dealing with Kellyco, don't expect much in the way of quality in their "freebies". I got a trowel that is better fit for someone's kid to use with a bucket on the beach, and the bag I got for the MD doesn't even come close to being a decent fit, nor something I'd carry in public. You get my point, make the deal on the price of the detector, not the "freebies".....if you don't, you'll be disapointed. Again, I'm happy with Kellyco, but you'll get little value on the freebies.

I think it is a good choice - little brother to the MXT I'm using. If or when you can afford it I recommend that you add either the 4X6 shooter or 5.3 coils for the really trashy areas. Personally, I prefer the 4X6, but either will slip thru the trash better than the stock 9.5 The 6X10 is a good choice as well and has become my most used coil as it has pretty good coverage, but seems to handle trash a bit better than the 9.5. In any event, I think you will like the M6.

Where can I buy optional coils?
Also are there any catalogs for shovels and other acc. ?

You should be able to buy coils from any White's dealer or off the White's website. Be sure to check the compatibility chart on the website so you know which coils will work. Also, keep an eye on Ebay as the different coils show up there from time to time. I've found the versatility of my MXT is greatly enhanced by having the options of matching coils to the conditions encountered on different hunt sites. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the 4X6 is an amazing coil in heavy trash. Enjoy the M6.

The M6 has been reported as a good machine. Most of Whites machines are excellet depending on what kind of hunting you want to do. However, be aware that just becasue KellyCo offers free postage and free goodies, it may not be all that free. I purchased my Ace 250 from KellyCo. When we got down to adding up the bill there was an additional $12.00 attached. I enquired and was told it was to covwer the additional postage for the goodies being shipped. I guess it all depends on how one interprets "free."
The goodies really isn't worth much. Most people I have talked to have said its junk, especially the hand trowel. It broke on them with a few weeks of good use. The only decent thing in the package was the Head phones that could be adjusted for volume on both right and left sides. However, not all MDs get the same head phones. I've seen some metal detectors with cheap head phones like the kind you get on your Walkman( if they make Walkmans anymore ).

A good hand trowel can be bought at your garden supply. See photo:

Also a good digging tool if you don't want to use a screwdriver is the picture posted.

Good luck.

Call Kellyco and tell them to send you their free catalog. Good starting point for accessories. If you buy from Kellyco ask for JW. My brother and I have dealt with him for many, many years and have never been disappointed. Good Luck. I think most importantly as said before, Don't let the freebies determine what you buy.

With that money, I'd buy a used Minelab Explorer on Ebay, especially if it is coins you are after.

coin finder Here $599. is better than $700. here in Long Island New York... ;D ;D 8) 8)
