Hello. Been digging at an older farm where I have pulled out some large cents from the early 1800s. I pulled this buckle this morning, but I’m on sure if it’s a shoebuckle or not. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Excellent reference; thank you. Most of these are more relevant to earlier European times, but it’s a fascinating read.

Late Georgian shoe buckle (1770-1790) and that's a nice example too. By the early 1790's they were falling out of style and eventually disappeared from everyday use.
