I got out for a couple hours today back to my colonial homesite that I've been working all summer. I found only one thing that I think may be from the colonial era but I'm not sure. In fact I'm not 100% sure I even know what it is. I believe it's called a rosette from a horses bridal but correct me if I'm wrong. The silver came from the same spot along with a couple bucks in clad and some wheat pennies. I'm starting to think that I found all the colonial coins that I'm going to find at this spot unless I can get the owners to come in with a bulldozer and scrape 6 inches off the surface (in my dreams!).

Out west, where I grew up. Some fancy dans (city cowboys) would show up with doodads on the foreheads of their horses that had backs like that. But back then Rhinestones were the in thing. I think you are on the right track.

don't know but it looks questionable. Neat find!

Questionable meaning that you don't think it's colonial or that you you think it possibly might be? I don't know how to read your comment.
