It appears to be a St. Christopher medal.

It's hard to say. Essentially the same design has been in use for centuries. However, these medals are often struck or cast in base metals and alloys which are highly susceptible to corrosion: pewter, white metal, zinc, etc. So, the condition of this one is not necessarily indicative of great age.

But these cheap metal items had there hay day in the late 1800s so it would be a good 'ball park' guess :icon_thumright:
